RCB Random Contemporary Budapest / Balaton

Since its establishment, RCB Gallery has made significant strides year after year. As our regular followers will already know, in May 2026 we opened our spacious and impressive new exhibition space in Budapest. With 200 square metres of gallery space, it welcomes visitors throughout the year. Meanwhile, our gallery in Örvényes naturally continues to operate during the summer season. We can now present the contemporary artists and works we find most exciting across two truly distinctive venues.

Over the past few years, we have built not only a gallery but also a community, while seeking to introduce progressive ideas into the contemporary gallery scene. We have developed an unconventional operating model that challenges several established practices. At RCB, artists are not products but creative collaborators, partners and friends. Together, we form a community whose members can rely on one another. We work in a kind of alliance of “accomplices” – not only with our artists but also with our visitors, collectors and everyone who shares our passion for art.

Art fairs have played a defining role in our development. We have participated in major Hungarian fairs on six occasions, initially with smaller but carefully curated stands. Having established a strong presence on the Budapest gallery scene and secured a visible position through our professional programme and distinctive venue, the time has come for our next major step: at this year’s Budapest Contemporary, our stand will be almost three times larger than before. The expanded space will allow us to present everything from intimately scaled works to monumental pieces, all with the level of quality our visitors have come to expect from us.

Our artistic community now comprises thirteen artists, which has also made this substantial expansion necessary. We want to introduce as many of them as possible in a thoughtfully designed setting that does justice to their work.

Our exhibiting artists this year are:

FORGÓ Árpád, ZALAVÁRI József, BÁLVÁNYOS Levente, PLANK Antal, BECSKEI Andor, GERSTENKORN Kelemen, KONTÚR Balázs, BOBÁLY Anna, MEDGYESI Rudolf and FÁBIÁN Dániel.

But that is not all. For our most dedicated visitors, we are also preparing a special exhibition whose details remain top secret for now. This selection will feature further new works, with LAVIV Laura, KUZMA Eszter and SZABÓ Ádám also joining us.

The artistic profile of our gallery has continuously evolved and expanded over the years. Our primary direction initially emerged instinctively, but it has since become one of the central ideas behind our work: we seek out artists whose works possess a kind of “hyper-aura”.

For us, this means that although visitors are welcome to photograph the works, no reproduction can fully convey the aesthetic, sensory and spatial experience they offer in person. These works may appear kinetic without actually being so; they evoke the visual language of op art but cannot be neatly confined to that category. The legacy of modernism, geometry and minimalism is strongly present, yet they offer far more than this alone.

Our artists explore contemporary questions, phenomena and ideas. The works presented at RCB are not merely decorative objects: they offer visual pleasure while also inviting reflection. They are fresh and innovative, yet remain in continuous dialogue with artistic tradition.

Come and meet us and our artists in person, and become part of the RCB community!
