Neon Gallery
The 17-year-old, Budapest-based Neon Gallery was founded by Árpád Tóth and has been operating in the Buda Castle since October 2022.
Neon Gallery opened in November 2009 in a second-floor apartment on Nagymező Street with a group exhibition of young painters, operating at this location until July 2022. The gallery's roster encompasses various generations: on one hand, it focuses on young and mid-career painters representing a more sensory and spiritual direction, presenting their earlier and newer works through solo shows and themed group exhibitions. Another key focus is representing artists who emerged in the 1970s and 1980s—many of whom are internationally recognized and hold a significant place in Hungarian art history. Particular attention is given to neo-avant-garde conceptual and experimental art, as well as to previously lesser-known or unexhibited works and series by the subsequent generation, including artists associated with the Rózsa Press circle. The gallery places strong emphasis on researching and showcasing these artists' oeuvres, as well as publishing books and monographs.
