Márton Nemes

Márton Nemes (b. 1986, Székesfehérvár) is a multimedia artist living and working in Budapest and New York. His work operates at the intersection of painting, sculpture, installation, as well as sound and light art. He began his studies in industrial product and graphic design at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, continued at the painting department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, and earned his master's degree in 2018 at the Chelsea College of Arts in London.

His early work was inspired by the post-socialist architectural and urban environment of Budapest. During his years in London, his art was strongly influenced by techno subcultures, which further deepened his interest in abstract painting and immersive, multi-sensory genres. Showcasing a diverse range of media and materials, his works expand the traditional boundaries of painting while creating complex environments through the integration of sound, light, and space. His pieces are characterized by an intense neon palette and synthetic color scheme evoking contemporary club culture, alongside visual structures echoing painterly gestures transposed into new materials, sprayed gradients, and sculptural surfaces. In recent years, the atmospheric inspiration drawn from techno has gradually merged with the experience of meditation and spirituality, introducing new, contemplative layers to his work.
