TOBE Gallery

TOBE Gallery was founded in October 2013 in Budapest by Tomas Opitz and Bea Puskás with the aim of creating an internationally visible platform for Hungarian and Ibero-American contemporary artists. The gallery’s main focus is on contemporary photography and collage, where the pursuit of high artistic quality is coupled with a spirit of experimentation in the work of its represented artists. With its distinctive profile, the gallery has been contributing for more than a decade to positioning contemporary Hungarian photography within an international context.

The mission of TOBE Gallery is to disseminate, promote, and foster the appreciation of contemporary photography as widely as possible. To this end, in recent years the gallery has participated in several major international art fairs (Paris Photo, Unseen Amsterdam, Photo London, etc.) and festivals. Its guiding principle is that photography is an equal partner to any other field of art. Many of the artists represented by the gallery work across multiple media, seeking to present image-making practices in ways that blur boundaries and eliminate hierarchies.
Since 2022, TOBE has operated with two exhibition spaces: the larger gallery space mainly provides a platform for artists represented by the gallery, while the TOBE Cabinet is dedicated to pop-up exhibitions and events. The newly established TOBE Project focuses on exploring dynamic interactions between different branches of fine art—such as painting, video art, and sculpture. At this year’s fair, TOBE Gallery and TOBE Project will once again share a joint booth, aiming to highlight fresh patterns of visual connections through dialogic encounters between diverse artistic disciplines.
Artists to be exhibited: Kincső Bede (HU-RO), Gustavo Blanco-Uribe (VE), Réka Bohus (HU), Juan Brenner (GT), Oleñka Carrasco (VE), Jean-François Lepage (FR), Ádám Magyar (HU), Alejandro Vega Beuvrin (VE)
